There are three key elements to a good broaching process. These are: a properly designed and manufactured broach, a suitable broaching machine, and broaching oil capable of ensuring high productivity under all conditions. For nearly 40 years, our company has been manufacturing broach cutters in-house for parts made of a wide variety of materials and with different geometries for hundreds of customers, as well as providing contract broaching services for these parts. Based on this experience, our company uses Kestaş High-Performance Broaching Oil in its contract broaching operations and also sells this oil, which was specifically developed for this broaching process. KESTAŞ provides its customers with training on the proper usage rates of this special oil in accordance with broaching specifications and monitors process performance in collaboration with its customers. This special oil is used as a lubricant in broaching operations on hard metals. During broaching operations, temperatures can reach up to 800°C due to friction, and broaching tools can be damaged by this high heat. Kestaş High-Performance Broaching Oil thins out perfectly under heat, reaching all the way to the very tips of the broach teeth and breaking the contact between the broach and the workpiece. It provides excellent lubrication thanks to its extreme pressure (EP) additives. This prevents damage to the broaching tool, extends its service life, and ensures higher-quality surfaces. It delivers a significant improvement in broaching performance, particularly when machining materials such as titanium, stainless steel, hardened steels, and 4140. If the wrong cutting fluid is used or no cutting fluid is used at all, the total service life of your broaching tool will be significantly reduced. Sharpening intervals will become more frequent. For example, instead of sharpening every 4,000 parts, it will be necessary to sharpen every 3,000 parts. This will lead to an increase in breakage and tearing issues observed at the point where the broach exits the workpiece.
