Product Description
A Hydraulic Chuck / Hydraulic Expansion Chuck, used on vertical machining centers and CNC lathes, is a special tool-holding system that operates on the principle of hydraulic pressure to clamp cutting tools with high precision and strong holding force.
Inside the body of the hydraulic chuck, there is a sealed hydraulic chamber filled with oil. When the clamping screw is tightened, hydraulic pressure is generated, causing the thin-walled clamping section inside the holder to expand in a controlled manner and grip the cutting tool shank evenly around its circumference. This system provides high concentricity, repeatability, and clamping accuracy.
On vertical machining centers, hydraulic chucks are commonly used for holding drills, reamers, end mills, and precision cutting tools. On CNC lathes and turn-mill machines, they are especially used in live tooling units to provide precise and vibration-free clamping of the cutting tool.
The main advantages of hydraulic chucks are low runout, high surface quality, vibration damping capability, easy tool changes, and extended cutting tool life. For this reason, they are particularly preferred in applications requiring high machining accuracy and superior surface finish.
